Overweight Children and Video Games
10 января 2011

Image : http://www.flickr.com
There is a real link between overweight children and video games. Children who are or become overweight usually sit in front of a television or a computer the majority of the day and do nothing except play video games. As every parent knows this is not good for the health of any child. The child must not be, allowed to concentrate so intently on these games. An over weight child is at risk.
Some of these risks are heart problems developing; a risk of bone and joint problems developing. These overweight children will begin to have trouble with the bowels and the urinary tracks as well as become dependent upon junk foods. Some of these children can also develop breathing problems such as asthma.
The reason for all or this is the fact that the child becomes inactive. When anyone is inactive, the body metabolism begins to slow down. The slower the metabolism the less movement this creates fat cells to grow rapidly. This causes the child to become over weight. This can also cause the child to begin to have problems with constipation.
The added extra weight on the child’s heart and lungs can cause the child’s breathing to become, labored and the extra weight puts unneeded pressure and strain on the child’s heart as well as the lungs. Then even if the child does seem to loose some of the weight the damage has already been done and cannot be reversed in some cases.
The child more than likely does not eat properly as well and this will add to the overweight problem. Children need to be active and eat properly in order to prevent the child from becoming overweight.
Parents must monitor their child’s activity or the lack of activity. In the fast, busy pace of the world today, it is difficult to find time to spend with your children. Especially if you are, an only parent and you must work to support your children. This leaves the children at home alone with only the video games and the television.
There are free after school programs that parents may find to get their children involve in. These programs involve play, exercise, and games to keep the child from becoming inactive. This is a much better way for parents to ensure that their child is not sitting in front of a video game screen constantly.

Simply put, an intranet application is a small internal website running within a secured business environment. Intranet is basically a network of computers in an organization that is used for sharing of data among the employees. An intranet-application is also sometimes referred to as corporate portal or private business network. Depending on the requirements it needs to cater to, the application can be basic in structure or exhaustive with complex interlinks and data exchanges. Stephen Lawton, a technical editor, introduced the term Intranet in 1995.
A typical intranet application works on HTML and TCP/IP, similar to internet. However, the basic difference is that the entire setup runs on LAN (Local Area Network). Intranet application development involves use of hardware with networking capabilities and software technologies that include web servers, browsers, TCP/IP, Ethernet, and WiFi systems. When the organization uses internet on the same network, the application is usually configured behind a firewall through a gateway so that unauthorized access is restricted.
Intranet applications should ideally allow the employees at levels to access required information, take decisions, and perform in an effective manner. Thus, the intranet application development cycle must be carefully planned and accomplished. Following steps can be considered when designing an intranet application.
- Define objectives - set the guidelines for which the intranet is being developed and will be used, and so on.
- Prepare the intranet plan - chart out the structure of the intranet, hardware and software that will be used, number of users and their access rights, nature of the information available on it.
- Design and implement intranet applications - having acquired the necessary resources complete the intranet designing, deployment, and other implementation tasks.
- Create awareness about the intranet - promote the intranet among the relevant users so that it is effectively used and the set objectives are fulfilled.
There are many advantages of intranet application, foremost being improved productivity and reduced costs.
- Faster access to information and updates allows the employees to make quicker decisions and take actions, thus improving the overall productivity of the organization.
- It facilitate accurate flow of targeted information across verticals and horizontals, which could possibly reduce number of emails floating around in an organization.
- Important policy documents, training materials, company knowledge documents can be maintained on the intranet application and can be accessed from a single source when required.
- There is no need to maintain physical copies of information or other documents and hence IA prove to be cost effective solutions.
Though intranets offer many advantages, it is required that intranet apps development is robust enough to handle multiple users at a time, and at that same time ensure that corporate confidentiality is maintained.

Coffee History, Grinders and Mills
29 декабря 2010

Coffee is a very popular caffeine-based drink prepared from roasted seeds, usually called coffee beans. It was first discovered in the 19th century in the Ethiopia highlands. It then spread to Yemen and Egypt. Soon enough, it became popular throughout the world.
Coffee plant is native to Southern Asia and subtropical Africa. It belongs to a genus of 10 species of flowering plants. Coffee is a small tree or evergreen shrub that can grow about 5 meters long and 6 centimeters wide. It produces a cluster of fragrant and white flowers that bloom simultaneously.
Coffee is commonly propagated by seeds. The usual method of planting coffee is to place 20 seeds in each hole at the beginning of the rainy season. Coffee is frequently intercropped with food harvests like beans, rice or corn during the first few years of cultivations.
There are two main cultivated species of coffee plants - Coffee Arabica and Coffee Canephora. Arabica coffee is more suitable than Robusta because Robusta coffee tends to taste more bitter. The cultivation of Arabica coffee accounts to about three quarters of coffee cultivations globally.
Most of the Arabica coffee beans originated from Eastern Africa, Latin America, Asia or Arabia. Robusta coffee beans, on the other hand, are grown in Central and Western Africa, all over Southeast Asia and in some parts of Brazil.
Coffee beans are brewed or grounded in making coffee. Roasting the grounded coffee beans can be done at home, in a roastery or in the grocery store. Coffee beans can be grounded in many ways. It can be steeped, pressured or boiled. The earliest method of brewing coffee was boiling. In fact, Turkish coffee uses this method.
Coffee grinders and coffee mills are two advanced means of making coffee nowadays. It comes in different models, and some of these are discussed below.
The Ascaso M.101 Anthracite Grinder Color Coffee provides commercial quality grinding with more than 9lbs of production per hour. It has a 700 rpm motor, optional electronic timer, built-in MRS or Micrometric Regulation System, and 250 watts of power. The large 600 gram hopper of this coffee grinder helps position the nozzle, for simple pouring of the grounded coffee.
The Black and Decker SmartGrind Deluxe Bean Burr Mill features removable beans and a coffee container. It crushes beans rather than grinding it to preserve the aroma and flavor of the coffee. The bean container can hold more than 20 cups of coffee. The settings can be adjusted to make espressos, medium drips and coarse percolators.
The Bosch Blade Coffee Grinder is easy to operate, even by left-handers. Its housing is made of durable shock-resistant plastic. It can also be used for grinding shelled nuts and certain types of spices. The slant basket and special beater blade system produce consistent and uniform grinding.
The Bodum C-Mill Blade Coffee Grinder has a very precise and strong motor. The C-Mill blade is not only used in grinding coffee, it can also be used in grinding shelled nuts and other types of spices. It has a convenient cord storage, and safety on and off switch.

Spam! Spam! Spam! Spam!
25 декабря 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com
If you are like most everyone else in the world with an email address, you cringe every time you look at your inbox and see that 90% of your emails are from someone trying to sell you something. It gets to be a hassle, trying to sort the real emails from the junk, and I have more than once deleted an actual email thinking that it was junk. Of course, all this junk email we get has a name. And its name is Spam.
The term Spam as it relates to junk email can trace its origins back to 1994 or 1978, depending on who you ask. The 1994 incident, where a husband and wife lawyer team from Arizona ’spammed’ around 6,000 newsgroups is generally accepted as the beginning, however. The fact that a lawyer started this whole mess makes me think that there might be a lawyer joke somewhere to be found here, but for fear of litigation I will not attempt to find it…
What is Spam, really? Well, aside from the mystery meat concoction sold in a can, it is really any unwanted email. Almost always these emails will try to sell you something. Sometimes they are intended to get you to visit a particular website or to make you think you have won something. The famous Nigerian scam is one of the most popular forms of spam. This is where you get an email from the brother/son/sister/daughter/uncle/etc of some high-ranking official in the Nigerian government. They inform you that the official has in his possession some large amount of American money, almost always in the millions of dollars. They then ask for your discreet help in getting this money into an American bank. And of course, they will reward you with tons of cash for helping them. It is really just a ploy to get you to send them money–don’t fall for it.
Very often folks wonder why people go through all the trouble to send these spam emails when almost no one ever buys anything from them. Well, the key to that is that ‘almost’ no one buys anything. When you send out 6,000,000 emails trying to sell some junk, if only one-half of one percent of the recipients buy it you’ve sold 30,000 products. That is why spam is so popular, and so frustrating.
There have been anti-spamming laws passed in recent years, but they are quite difficult to enforce. Unfortunately, spam may be with us for some time to come.

Tips for Choosing a Quality Website Builder
23 декабря 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Today you will find that there are many different website builders available. A quick search in popular search engines will quickly show you how many different options are available. Of course, since there are so many options, sometimes it can be tough to figure out which builder will work best for your website. Here are a few tips you can use to ensure you choose a quality website builder so you can build a top quality website.
Tip #1 - Ensure It’s Easy to Use
First, when you are choosing a website builder, make sure that it is easy to use. It used to be thought that building a new website was extremely difficult. However, it doesn’t have to be today. Quality builders can make this task easy and inexpensive for you. Look for a good builder that will make it extremely easy for you to build and design the website you want.
Tip #2 - Pay Just Once
Another important tip is to make sure that you choose a quality website builder that only requires you to pay once. This way you are able to update your website whenever needed without having to pay more money. Some options require that you pay a monthly fee and this can get expensive.
Tip #3 - Take a Look at the Features
You’ll also need to take a look at the features of the website builder you are considering. Different builders offer different widgets that can help you quickly create great features for your site, such as a video player, photo galleries and more.
Tip #4 - Host Compatibility
There are many website builders out there that force you to store your files on the web. This means that if you want to go with a different host, you’ll lose the website that you worked so hard on. Going with an offline builder will allow you to easily make sure your site is compatible with a variety of web hosts, which makes it easier for you.
Tip #5 - Many Templates
It’s a good idea to look for a website builder that has a variety of different templates you can choose for your website. This allows you to focus on other important aspects of your site instead of trying to design the entire layout on your own. There are many templates available with the top website builder companies in a variety of different categories.
Tip #6 - Check Into Technical Support
It is definitely important that you have good technical support when you are choosing your website builder. Make sure you can get support fast, whether by live chat, email, or on the phone. You may even want to check out their support system to ensure you get the support needed if something happens to your website.
While there are many choices available among various website builders, these tips can help you to make a good decision. Consider all of these tips and then make an informed decision that will help you ensure you build a top website.

Water Filter System - Guide to Selecting the Best Water Purification System for Your Home
22 декабря 2010

If you’re like me, you want to be sure you have safe and healthy drinking water. Well, with all the pollution that’s made its way into our public water sources, you need to install a water filter system. Without one, you’re drinking, cooking, and showering in all sorts of toxic contaminants.
There’s lots of different water filter systems. You can install them on your kitchen sink, shower, or where water comes into your home so all of your taps have purified water.
First, the technology in a water filter system is very important. The best filters have a carbon block and a sub micron filter. These are very cost effective and will remove 99.9% of all the toxic contaminants in your tap water.
Some systems use distillation or reverse osmosis technology. The problem with these filters is they can’t remove many of the synthetic chemicals like prescription drugs and pesticides that are very common in public water.
Distillation and reverse osmosis were initially designed to remove minerals from water so they wouldn’t cause any damage to manufacturing equipment. From here, the technology was downsized so it could fit in a house size water filtration system.
Both of these technologies should be avoided. When you remove minerals from your tap water it will not taste very good. Plus, drinking demineralized water is very unhealthy as it can lead to mineral deficiencies in your body. When this happens, you can become susceptible to all sorts of illnesses and disease.
A multistage carbon filter purifier will remove lead, pesticides, fertilizers, gasoline, solvents, prescription drugs, parasites and more. Pretty much anything that shouldn’t be in your water will be removed. But, the water will still have the healthy minerals in it after it passes through the multistage carbon filter system.
Shower water is one water source that is overlooked when people decide to buy a water filter system. This is a big mistake. Showers are the number one source of getting toxins in your body due to the heavy pollution in public water.
You see, water is absorbed into your body when you shower. So, all of the toxins in the water get absorbed too. To take care of this, there’s a shower head unit you can install that has a multistage carbon filter system. Or, you can install a whole home water filter system so all the taps including your shower are purified.
Make no mistake about it. Installing a water filter system is a smart move. It will be the best investment in your health you’ll ever make.
GUARANTEED pure drinking water in your home is just one step away. Go to http://clear-drinking-water.com right now to get the BEST water purification systems.
